In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Allah—Glory be to Him—has said: ﴿By the [passage of] Time! Indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to [follow] the truth and advised each other to [exercise] patience.﴾ [Al-Asr: 1-3]
And the Most Noble Prophet—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family—said: “Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock.”
Drawing upon the precepts of Divine Revelation—as found in the Holy Quran and the words of the Prophet and his Ahl al-Bayt (the People of his Household)—peace and blessings be upon him and them, we observe that our people in Iraq consistently contribute to rectifying the country’s affairs. They remain ever-vigilant, ensuring that the ship of Iraq is not swept away by pressures and capricious whims toward the maelstroms of sedition.
Consequently, individual members of this nation—relying upon Allah, Glory be to Him—will contribute by seizing the opportunity presented by the elections. They do so to oversee the country’s affairs—politically, economically, and culturally—and to foster further reform, progress, and prosperity.
Indeed, a profound responsibility rests upon each one of us to attend to the collective affairs of the Muslim community; for is it not true that “Whoever does not concern himself with the affairs of the Muslims is not one of them”?
Therefore, we offer the following recommendations:
First: Diligently and earnestly seek out competent and trustworthy individuals to occupy parliamentary seats, and subsequently, to fill all other public offices. Once an individual identifies a candidate who fulfills the requisite criteria for representation and proceeds to elect them, the responsibility to monitor them—and to guide, support, or champion them—remains an enduring and continuous obligation. Secondly: Contributing to the formulation and development of societal reform programs. For the past and present machinations of Iblis have created deep fissures within the fabric of our nation; thus, it is incumbent upon us all to strive collectively to bridge these gaps—relying upon our Lord, Glorified and Exalted be He, and drawing insight and resolve from the texts of the Holy Book and from the counsels of the Prophet and his Noble Household (upon them all be the blessings of God). Furthermore, we must benefit from the guidance of our esteemed religious authorities, scholars, and sages within our country. In doing so, our vision becomes complete; we may then place our trust in God Almighty and march forward toward a brighter future—God willing. God is the Source of Aid.
