Iraq: Conclusion of “Bay‘at al-Ridwan” Campaign with Extensive Religious and Awareness Activities

The Council of Iraqi Scholars has concluded the activities of the “Bay‘at al-Ridwan Campaign,” which was part of a religious and faith-based program that ran from 1 Dhu al-Qa‘dah 1447 AH, corresponding to April 16, 2026, commemorating the blessed Pledge of Ridwan that took place in the sixth year of the Hijrah of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. The campaign witnessed wide participation and engagement across several Iraqi provinces.

The campaign was implemented following approval from the Islamic Guidance Department at the Sunni Endowment Office, with the participation of a number of scholars, preachers, students of religious knowledge, and social, academic, and da‘wah figures in Iraq.

The activities included the holding of more than thirty listening sessions for the book “Al-Arba‘in Al-Ridwaniyah” in various mosques across Iraq, in addition to unified Friday sermons delivered in more than five hundred mosques throughout the provinces. These sermons addressed the meanings of the Pledge of Ridwan and the virtues of the noble Companions, may Allah be pleased with them.

Academic Programs and Unified Sermons

The campaign also featured seminars, awareness lectures, media programs, and social media outreach initiatives.

Closing Ceremony and Honoring Event in Baghdad

The activities concluded with a central ceremony held at Al-Haqq Al-Mubeen Mosque in the capital, Baghdad, attended by a number of scholars, preachers, and social figures. During the event, several contributors and participants in the success of the campaign were honored, including Sheikh Dr. Diyaa Al-Rawi and Sheikh Dr. Ismaeel Abdul Abbas Al-Jumaili, imams of Al-Haqq Al-Mubeen Mosque, in recognition of their efforts in organizing the closing ceremony.

In a speech delivered during the event, Sheikh Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Aziz Al-Ani called on scholars, preachers, and students of religious knowledge to actively engage in such da‘wah programs, given their role in highlighting the status of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, and strengthening religious awareness in society.

He also called for making use of such occasions to promote values of harmony, compassion, and forgiveness, and to instill love for the Companions in the hearts of younger generations, urging them to follow their example. He emphasized the importance of continuing programs that serve the spiritual and awareness-related needs of society.
