Karbala — On the day of the funeral procession of the martyred leader of the revolution, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammad-Taqi Modarresi, the senior Shiite marja‘, walked on foot to the holy shrine of Imam Husayn (peace be upon him) and participated in the funeral procession for the pure body of the martyred leader, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei. The move, carried out amid a vast gathering of mourners, religious delegations and clerical figures, drew wide coverage in local media and on social networks and sparked a wave of public reaction.
The Grand Ayatollah’s office said in a brief statement that his presence symbolized respect for the martyr’s family and a renewed affirmation of commitment to revolutionary and Islamic values. Photos and videos published on social platforms show the solemn atmosphere and spiritual solidarity along the route to the shrine. In the videos, the Grand Ayatollah Modarresi is seen accompanied by a number of religious scholars, seminary students and mourners.
